Chuck is currently on hiatus. The series was renewed for a third season of 19 episodes. The series may return in January or in March, after the Olympics, as originally planned.
Episode 3.01: Chuck versus the Pink Slip (Season premiere) Airdate: March 2010
08/09 - In the season premiere, Chuck will undergo spy training for about three months. General Beckman is not happy with Chuck's progress and even says that the Intersect 2.0 was meant for a real spy like Bryce Larkin not for a regular and emotional Joe such as Chuck. Source: TV Squad
08/09 - The day before shooting began on Season 3, Zachary Levi showed up at the NBC party at the TCA press tour with a full-on Old Testament beard. You may think he had to shave it Thursday morning before he began work on "Pink Slip." No, he did not. The beard has been worked in to the season premiere; it'll appear for at least part of the episode. Levi's wardrobe for the episode included an old grey T-shirt, a bathrobe, a baseball cap and sunglasses. The phrase "vagrant Serpico" was used by one character to describe his look. [...] This is a factoid from the Comic-Con interview, but I thought it was worth mentioning again: Morgan and Chuck are roommates as Season 3 begins. [...] The set of the Orange Orange was in use on Thursday. The set of the Castle, the spy headquarters, was in use on Thursday. And it is going to be expanded in Season 3. "You could call it a palace now," Levi joked. Source:Chicago Tribune

07/31 - Casey orders Chuck to tell his sister Sarah surprised him with plane tickets to Europe and that they'll stay there at least six weeks. In reality, they are going to a training facility so that Chuck learns to be a real super spy. Three months later, six Russian spies, including scary Yuri, meet up with a man with a black hood. The hooded man? Cool and confident super spy Charles Carmichael! He's there, alone, because the Russians have something that belongs to his boss. Agent Carmichael uses his special kung fu skills to get hold of the situation. Chuck may have become a great agent but there is still one thing that he can't do: shoot a bad guy. The ending doesn't go as Chuck or General Beckman would have liked. Luckily for Chuck, this was a test and not a real mission. Emmett and Morgan also appear. Source: SpoilerFix.com
Episode 3.02: Chuck versus the Three Words Airdate: March 2010
08/09 - Kurt Stromberg: 30-45. A powerful, brick of a man. Eyes void of any feeling. He is a dangerous arms-dealer but he has a soft spot for the love of his life, Carina (Mini Anden). Whenever he gets around her, he becomes a lovable teddy bear. Source:SpoilerTV

09/05 - Captain Awesome is in danger of becoming Captain Deadasadoornail if this latest Chuck casting scoop is any indication: Ex-Law & Order ADA Angie Harmon has signed on to guest star in this season's fourth episode as Sydney, a spy for the Ring who wants to whack Ryan McPartlin's awe-obsessed alter ego. Source:The Ausiello Files
08/30 - Superman Brandon Routh is joining Chuck for a multi-episode arc, sources confirm. Who's he playing and what impact will it have on Chuck and Sarah? Meanwhile, Shaw (Brandon Routh) and Sarah have one of those, "Oh my god we're gonna die, so I may as well tell you I love you" moments. [...] The only good news? Kristin's character Hannah is so not what she seems, and I don't think she's long for Chuck's world. Source: Kristin on E!Online

Episode 3.09: Title Unknown Airdate: May 2010

11/14 - In episode 10, Casey does something bad. REALLY bad. Could-cost-him-his-job bad. And it's connected to [the fact that....] Robert Patrick is slated to appear midway through the third season. [...] Patrick will play Col. Keller, a mysterious figure from Casey's past in "Chuck Versus the Tic Tac," which I hear will be a big episode for Adam Baldwin's newly-minted colonel. General Spoilers:
11/01 - NBC has asked for six more episodes of Chuck for midseason. [...] As for Chuck, the show's third season was originally pegged to start in March following NBC's Winter Olympics coverage. With the additional episodes however (bringing its total to 19 installments), the network will either have to bump up its return to January or stick with its original plan and let the series run into the summer. 09/27 - Vik Sahay (Lester) reveals: "There is Buy More stuff and there's a lot of friction with management. There are elements of Lester temporarily changing something about himself. He is changed--temporarily." Source: Kristin on E!Online
09/27 - Emmy winner Armand Assante has been tapped to play a Castro-esque dictator who Casey has unsuccessfully tried to assassinate multiple times. Source:The Ausiello Files

"Chuck and Hannah definitely have feelings for each other," teases an insider. Laid off from her glamorous publishing job, Hannah ends up working at the Buy More. Source:The Ausiello Files
09/01 - Jeffster will perform on the show next season. Source: Kristin on E!Online
08/30 - Chuck star Ryan McPartlin spells it out for us: "I don't know if I'll be made a spy, but I'm getting involved in the spy world. Chuck's going to be in a pinch and call on me to help him out." Makes sense, but we have an important question: Will this mean more or less clothes? "I don't have to just be shirtless for no reason, but I'm sure my shirt will come off for random acts of God." Whoo! As McPartlin says, "I feel like it's amazing because it's like the first season, when Chuck got to carry the weight of the secret. I get to bring that spirit of the first season back again, through Awesome's eyes. And I'm just gonna lean on Sarah and Chuck for advice on how to do that." [...] There's a chance that Bryce Larkin isn't really dead and that he could return to shake things up a little. Source: Kristin on E!Online
08/16 - We can tell you that Chevy Chase's computer billionaire character, Ted Roark, won't be coming back: "I got killed. I got shot right in the heart. Dead," says Chevy. Source: Kristin on E!Online
08/09 - The Buy More is still part of Season 3. But it was a very different place, much more locked down and tidied up, and on all the flat screens in the store, a very ominous film loop was playing: a black and white clip of Joseph Stalin reviewing troops in Red Square. Dun- dun -dun! The reason for the grim mood in the Buy More? The reign of terror implemented by Emmett Milbarge. Yes, Tony Hale, who plays Milbarge, will once again recur in Season 3. And as we know, he's not the "see no evil" manager that Big Mike was. His office is now a much darker, more ominous place, dominated by a giant executive chair and a large "Buy-Moria" flag. Big Mike, the store's former manager, is still in "purgatory/Hell" on the Buy More sales floor, according to Fedak. [...] Fedak said there are still plans to keep John Casey in the orbit of the Buy More crew, given that there is so much comedy to be mined from his irritation with the store's staff. "It's a lot of fun to have him in that world as the straight man, and it's great to get his perspective on the Buy More madness," Fedak said. "John Casey's been out there for 20 years saving America, now he realizes just what he's been saving. So it's tough for him. But this year we'd like to get him in the Buy More even more." How Subway, the "Chuck" advertiser whom fans patronized in an effort to get a new season for the show, will be worked into the new season has not quite been figured out. As mentioned in that Comic-Con piece, Chuck's new abilities, which were glimpsed at the end of Season 2, will not work perfectly in Season 3. The idea in Season 3 is to have Casey and Sarah act not just as Chuck's protectors but as his "senseis," or teachers who will help him use his powers effectively. "They're training him to be the master spy, and their relationships are maturing that way," Fedak said. There are also plans to "deepen the spy characters" to find out, for example, how a soldier like Casey ended up becoming a spy. And we'd also find out more about what Sarah and Casey have done in their espionage careers. "Spies are people who go to other countries and commit criminal acts. So with Casey and Sarah, it's always interesting to see what they've done in their past, and find out how grey or interesting or duplicitous they've been," Fedak said. Source:Chicago Tribune
08/02 - "You know what they say?" cocreator and executive producer Josh Schwartz told us at Comic-Con. "Two steps forward, three steps back. The dance shall continue." As does the verbal dance when talking about what's to come... The three steps back goes like this: "We do have two major new arcs on the show. One is a potential love interest for Chuck, and the other is a potential love interest for Sarah," according to Josh. Why can't these two just get together? It seems Sarah isn't happy about the latest developments. Yvonne told us, "There are going to be a lot more complications between Chuck and Sarah, now that he's downloaded his new intersect into his brain. I think that Sarah is going to be a little upset." Upset enough to run into the arms of another man? It's looking that way. As Josh said on Saturday's panel, Chuck and Sarah are going to go through "something very emotional and traumatic," but "it's going to be very, very good." And cocreator and executive producer Chris Fedak also told us, "It'll be cool. It'll be deep, and it'll have a lasting affect on the show." Chris later added, "Between episode 222 and the first episode when we come back, episode 301, something cataclysmic will have happened in their relationship." So, that's the bad news. Adding fuel to the fire further was our little chat with Ryan McPartlin (Devon "Awesome" Woodcomb) who, as we told you, will be entering the spy world. Well, guess what storyline he'd like to see? "As a spy, oh, I'm definitely going to have to romance the ladies," he told us in the pressroom. "Yvonne is going to have to help me with that hopefully." He then turned to her and said, "We'll be like the Mr. and Mrs. Smith episode you guys did," to which Yvonne played along saying that Awesome's new bride, Ellie, would get jealous and make for a cool storyline. "There's got to be drama. There's got to be conflict," continued Ryan. "What better way than to get us together? And maybe even kiss? Awesome and Sarah?! [...] Now, the two steps forward they mentioned: When a reporter asked Chris to please not tear Chuck and Sarah apart, Chris assured us, saying, "One of the things, as a writer on the show, is we've always found that Chuck and Sarah are awesome together. So trust me that we love having Chuck and Sarah together on the show." [...] Karina (Mini Anden) is definitely coming back next season, said Josh. "And Morgan will try once again." And they hope to have Scott Bakula back too. Source: Kristin on E!Online
06/14 - Though the action-comedy isn't expected to return until March 2010 - after NBC's Winter Olympics coverage has wrapped - cast and crew will commence production on the hard-earned Season 3 in August. That way, "We will be ready to come back whenever we're asked to come back," Vik Sahay (who plays the Buy More's morally challenged Lester) said during a visit with TVGuide.com. "And that's good to know." What's also good to know is that Chuck's 13-episode order could be super-sized if the series returns to strong ratings. "That's the hope," says Sahay. "NBC boss Ben Silverman said he'll push us into the summer with a back nine order, so we're planning on making the shows that good." Source: TV Guide Online
06/14 - [Zachary Levi] let slip a very spoilery tease about next season's Chuck. It involves the new kung fu-esque intersect in his brain. Apparently, there are some kinks to be worked out. Source:The Ausiello Files
05/27 - [Because of budget cuts,] "we might have certain episodes where Chuck's mission is such that we don't get the opportunity to go to the Buy More as much," [reveals exec producer Josh Schwartz]. [...] Chuck, Sarah, and Casey are in all episodes. [...] Chuck having the Intersect in his head will severely complicate their ability to be a couple [with Sarah]... And look for a potential new love interest on the show. Someone who could triangulate between a couple of characters. Source:The Ausiello Files
