10/04 - "She Wolf" Shakira and model-actress Christie Brinkley will appear in an upcoming episode of Ugly Betty, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively. The women will appear in an episode that primarily takes place in the Bahamas, where Betty & Co. travel to complete a photo shoot. Shakira will play herself. Executive producer Silvio Horta says the Colombian pop star happens to be in the Bahamas at the same time as the Mode crew and plays a pivotal role in helping save the day after things go awry. Will little Justin, Betty's nephew, be there too? "Justin's the one who knows Shakira's alias," Horta reveals. Brinkley, once a very successful swimsuit model herself, will play Penelope Graybridge, the editor of a competing fashion mag. Alas, she will not feel the sands of Nassau between her toes, as her character's story will be based solely in New York. [...] Cast and crew are headed to the islands now to film the episode, which is scheduled to air during November sweeps. Source: TV Guide Online

09/27 - Betty Suarez is boldly going where she has never gone before: inside a one-piece. Sources confirm that Ugly Betty is heading to the Bahamas next month to shoot an episode on location at the Atlantis Resort and Casino. I'm told most of the cast will be making the trek for the special episode, which will air in November and revolve around a big Mode photo shoot. "Location shoots can make or break you as an editor, so it's a big deal for Betty," reveals my Ugly mole, who adds "there's also some drama with a certain love triangle." I hear said love triangle involves Betty, Matt, and a third party I've been asked not to name. 08/02 - ABC is pretty serious about the extreme makeover it's giving Ugly Betty. According to my sources, the network is going so far as to conduct a round of focus groups this week to get feedback on the heroine's season 4 metamorphosis. In particular, execs are showing test audiences two scenes from early in the season, both featuring a newly glamorized Betty working at her new job as Mode's associate features editor. In one, she's rocking a Chanel-esque pastel pink suit; in the other, she's sporting a short-sleeved black dress with a ruffled V-neck. "She looks a lot classier," says one guinea pig, "but she's still far from perfect." Based on ABC's questions to the panel, the suits appear most concerned about whether fans of the show will deem Betty's transformation appropriate, given her four-year journey from flunky to editor, or whether the changes are too drastic and compromise the essence of the Everygal. They're also asking for opinions about Betty's new hair, styled eyebrows, and makeup. Whatever the outcome of the focus groups, this seems like a fine time to remind you that it was in an April interview with me that exec producer Silvio Horta first broke news of Betty's revamp - which he said would eventually include her braces coming off. "There's going to be a progression in her look overall," he said. "It'll still be Betty, but you'll see some growth in that direction." Source:The Ausiello Files
07/24 - It looks like the musical episode is finally going to happen in the spring. [...] Rescue Me's Adam Ferrera is guest starring as a Queens contractor who crosses paths with Hilda. Source:The Ausiello Files
05/04 - Series creator Silvio Horta reveals about next season: We're going to explore [Justin's sexuality]. He'll be going to high school and getting older, so we'll definitely be exploring that. We want to see Marc and Amanda's love lives. [Betty's] braces will be off by the end of next season. Next year, there's going to be a progression in her look overall. It'll still be Betty, but you'll see some growth in that direction. Source:The Ausiello Files
